Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Very good food at a very good price. I'm not sure what the complaints here are about...I had a unique and delicious dish called a Mexican lasagna which had lots of chicken and melted cheese, it came with a salad and all the chips and salsa you could eat. With a glass of water the grand total came to a bank breaking eight dollars and nine cents!! Also, it was happy hour and the margaritas were a buck ninety nine! Yeah it was pre-made but my buddy had one and said it was fine. He enjoyed his food, too. It was a bit busy and the service was sometimes slow, but nothing to complain about. We just got to town on business and I will definitely be going back..

This is my very first visit to this restaurant, my daughter in law brought me tonight for my Birthday dinner. I love real Mexican food this place is the bomb, and the food OMG!!!! It's off the chain this is a must try restaurant, ok gotta go it's time to get my eats on....

Standard Mexican fare at above average prices...the ambiance is great in this newly constructed restaurant. I ordered the blue burrito, and it had everything you could ever want, and smothered in cheese sauce! Beef, chicken, and shrimp with beans, corn, and rice to round out the insides. Accompanied by margaritas by the pitcher to share with friends. Good food, but prices were slightly higher than expected, but a solid 3 star joint. With so many choices around this one fails to make the list.

We stopped in while on a mini vacation and really enjoyed it! The food is good, the atmosphere is really nice and relaxed and our waitress was the nicest lady! When we were done eating she brought us boxes and even a box and bowl for the left over salsa on the table. They asked our where we wanted to sit and I had asked for a booth to help keep our 3 year old seated and they asked us if where they wanted to sit us was ok before they sat us. We will defiantly be stopping back when we're up this way again!

Food was good, not the best I've had but good. This is defiantly an Americanized Mexican restaurant. Our server was super friendly, but that being said I ordered the pastor tacos and the grilled fish tacos and it took a very long time to get...Tacos! Shouldn't have take as long as it did. But that being said they were good, the fish tacos were very good as well. I would eat here again. Not that this place is a little on the expensive side, but I had coupon so it made dinner for 2 only $25 after tax and tip.

Was in town on business, stopped in for lunch. Ordered Carne Asada Tacos which is my favorite mexican dish. The meat was extremely bland. The rice wasn't good, and the beans were nothing special. The chips and salsa was the best part of the meal. My server didn't come back to ask how everything was until I was on my second taco (didn't even end up eating the third). When he asked how the food was, I responded "oh, it's okay" in a very disappointed tone. He responded "good!" with a smile on his face. Really?! Don't ask how my food is if you don't really care whether I'm satisfied or not.

Wow, not good! Food was almost inedible and I'm a Mexican food freak. Rita's were pre made mix, watered down and sweet tasting. I always say, "bad mexi is still better than other foods" but I'm doubting my motto right now!

I would have to say this is one of the better mexican restaurants in the Fort. What they lack in authenticity they make up in hearty, filling, and tasty dishes. You can get all the favorites of course, fajitas, burritos, chimichangas. They have an ala carte menu, and dinner entres. I'm pretty sure I saw vegetarian options (but being a meat eater, I quickly scanned over them.) Their jumbo margaritas are delicious and quite strong! I can have one while waiting for my food, and my head is a spinnin'!! Real reason I choose this restaurant over say...Casa? CHEESE DIP!! Absolutely the best queso dip in Fort Wayne. mmmmmmmmmm....cheese.....

I love this restaurant. We have been here several times in the last few years and never had a bad experience. The food is always hot and fresh. It's delivered quickly and we never wait long for much. The servers are very attentive. If you like Mexican, you should definitely check them out.

Delicious Mexican food, I was really happy to go there, their chips and salsa are delicious and their enchiladas were amazing.

When I came in I was greeted with friendly smiles, then it went down hill from there. The salsa resembled a form of ketchup with bit of cilantro. The queso was ok but not very hot. After we put in our order we waited about 15 min for our meal to arrive. While we waited we noticed a rather large dust bunny on the decoration on the wall. I got the loaded quesadilla. It lacked flavor other than the massive amounts of cheese. The Spanish rice might as well have been white. After no one checked back with us we were in need of napkins. We asked the manager for some when he came around but forgot about us when he met his friends in the bar. After she messed up our check and ran my card twice, I was finally out of there. I will not be returning for below average food with lackluster service.

Average T ex - Mexico food. The Sala and cheese dip were good. Service was slow on a Sunday at 1:00 when I would have thought it would have been extremely busy. I still think El Azteca has the best Mexican food in Fort Wayne.

Love this place. Doesn't have the atmosphere of a Mexican restaurant...closer to fine dining. So, in a Mexican place, it's kind of weird. But once you try the food...who cares? Chips & salsa our excellent and so are the margaritas. Service is always good. My significant other and I alternate between here and Dos Margaritas. You can't go wrong at either place.

Meh... It's ok. The service was excellent- very friendly service. The food was average Midwestern Mexican restaurant food. It was a very clean restaurant. Bathrooms were clean as well. Stop here if you are just looking to grab a bite to eat before heading out or on your way to another destination. The drink menu looked good but I just ordered tea. The salsa was good.

Service was good and food was good. Had the pollo poblano which was just the right amount of food. Clean atmosphere and we loved the decor. Our only complaint is the chips. They tasted like out-of-the-bag average tortilla chips. Otherwise, had an enjoyable lunch.

Great food, great service. Do yourself a favor and make time to get over to Agaves!

Great place food is always good..

Pretty good stuff by midwest standards. They seem to focus more on quantity than quality.

Great bean soup! Good fajitas. Great margaritas!! Atmosphere is decent. They got they're lighting right. Something JK Odonnel's did not. Good prices. We've never had a long wait and it's usually busy. Wait staff is very nice.

Nice place and friendly service. The warm chips and salsa are great, but the best part is the prices.
(3)Johnny M.
The blue agave margarita was nice as well as the guacamole. The pork burrito with the cream sauce was tasty and more than you can eat. Atmosphere was laid back and casual and our sever was attentive as well as polite. All in all an enjoyable experience.

Fairly standard Americanized Mexican fare. Good service and fair pricing. The bar has an excellent selection, and my food arrived quickly. I'd agree with the reviewer who said everything was bland, but this is northern Indiana - I've found this to be true for most restaurants in the area.

Pretty bad. I went to Agave's on a Monday night with my husband and a friend. I ordered fish tacos, because they are grilled (not fried), and the server gave me her endorsement. They were AWFUL. The fish was not fresh and was coated in a white cream sauce. The soft taco shells had the elasticity of spandex pants. The side of Mexican rice was dried out and box-mix salty! I am not sure what was wrong with my husband's fajitas...but they didn't smoke or sizzle as they came to the table...and the beef "strips" were thin/skimpy and twisted up like fusilli pasta. I guess the margaritas are $1.50 on Mondays, but that's a steep price to pay for all this indigestion!

Cool atmosphere....went for lunch had the Quas. Rasidella w.chicken, kinda skimpy on the sour cream ask for extra. Portions are filing enough, the black bean soup was also good. Skip the regular salsa and ask for the spicy one. If you're a big Mexican foodie, its the only thing that'll give you the flavor you're prob looking for!

My favorite Mexican food in Fort Wayne. They have an authentic taste, unique items, and a nice atmosphere. The service is attentive and friendly. Do yourself a favor and try them out.

Soggy enchildas, over cooked and rubbery seafood, bland salsa (and everything else). No thanks. There are plenty of better places in town if you are in the mood for Mexican food.
